Aging- 12 Months new French and American oak • Denomination de Origen (DO)- Pago Calzadilla

Tasting Note-“The 2008 Calzadilla Opta is a blend of 60% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 20% Syrah from a 20 ha vineyard that is aged for 12 months in American and French oak. It offers plenty of brambly black fruit laced with cedar on the fresh,  vibrant nose. The palate is well-balanced with a sappy, black cedar-infused fruit that is curiously akin to a Cabernet Sauvignon! It is harmonious and controlled toward the well-defined finish. Very fine. Tasting NoteDark cherry color. Predominant aromas of ripe cherry and light red flesh fruits along with a bit of eucalyptus. Characteristic hints of tobacco, licorice and vanilla. Balance fruit on the palate from start to finish. Well-rounded with good acidity that ensures it will evolve well over time. Long, expressive finish.
